The End of Effort—and Overwhelm:

Setting Down the Stone & Remembering What We Are

So many of us are carrying heavy stones right now. You are not alone. Sometimes it helps simply to set them down together for a while.

Many of us genuinely feel overwhelmed right now, by events in the world, by responsibilities in our lives, and by uncertainty about the future. That feeling is real and understandable. At our next Attitudinal Healing gathering, we will explore whether there might be another way of meeting these times.

Attitudinal Healing Saturday Gathering  | March 21  |  10:00 am to Noon | RSVP

Together we’ll reflect on how the meanings we give events shape our experience. Through conversation, journaling, and a short, guided practice, we’ll gently examine the cultural stories and inner beliefs that keep us pushing the stone uphill—and consider the possibility that some of the effort we’re making may not actually be necessary. What if part of our exhaustion comes not only from what is happening in the outer world, but also from the fearful inner narrative within our minds about what is happening? When we begin to question those interpretations to ask if that’s really true, we may find freedom and ease in discovering a different way of responding to life’s challenges.

If this theme resonates with you, we would love for you to join us. Please RSVP to attitudinalhealing@eliotchapel.org to let us know you are coming so we can prepare the space and materials and send you the door code to get in the building. We look forward to sharing a thoughtful and supportive morning reflection with shared insight.
