Summer: Nursery Care and Outdoor Fellowship

In May, Eliot will transition to the summer schedule with one service at 10:00 am. Religious Education (RE) classes and youth groups do not meet during the summer (May 25-August 31, 2025). The 2025-26 programs begin Sunday, September 7. Thanks to a team of volunteers, we can still offer nursery care to our kiddos five and younger, and outdoor play for our older kids. How can YOU help?

Nursery

During the summer months, Eliot parent and RE leader Brooke Kelly is working to arrange volunteers to keep the nursery open through the summer months so that playtime and freedom of movement is available for those five and younger during summer worship services. Eliot’s Safe Congregation Policy requires AT LEAST two adults (staff or volunteer) be present during all activities involving children and youth.

Eliot members and friends are encouraged to sign up for a Sunday (or two) via the Nursery SignUpGenius, especially if you plan to attend during the summer. You can read more about the nursery volunteer role via this position description.

Brooke can be reached at summernursery@eliotchapel.org if you have any questions.

Outdoor Fellowship

Beginning in June: In addition, Kalen Ponche, Kathy Becker, Cayla Suter, and Debbie Eldarrat are working to arrange supervised outdoor play and fellowship for kindergarten-6th grade MOST Sundays beginning in June on the back field and 222 lot during summer services. We’ll only be able to offer this on Sundays when AT LEAST two adults are signed up in advance.

Here’s the SignUpGenius for supervised outdoor play on the field (or Room 001 if weather is inclement) and the position description of the role with more information. The availability of this opportunity is contingent on advance volunteer signups. On weeks where supervised play IS NOT available, children should attend the worship service with their family.

Kalen, Cayla, Kathy, and Debbie can be reached at summerRE@eliotchapel.org if you have any questions.

Note that background checks are required for adults volunteering with children. An Eliot staff member will contact you if a new or updated check is needed.

HUGE thanks to Brooke, Kalen, Kathy, Debbie, and Cayla for their organizing efforts for Eliot children this summer.
