Seeking Asylum is a powerful documentary by Rae Ceretto and Kelly Scott that follows Kensy, a Honduran mother, and her children on their arduous journey to the U.S. to escape violence in their home country. Through intimate personal stories and interviews with judges and politicians, the film sheds light on the systemic barriers and human cost of our broken asylum system. Moving beyond statistics, Seeking Asylum puts a human face on those seeking refuge, revealing their struggles, resilience, and hope – and why asylum remains an essential part of the American Dream that we can’t afford to lose.
A panel discussion will follow the screening, featuring guest speakers who will address various aspects of Honduras: social/ political/ economic realities; what it is like to grow up there; and the history of U.S. interventions and factors that compel people to leave their country.
