NEW! Memoir Writing
Memoir Writing is a workshop that meets weekly over the course of eight weeks, reading excerpts of memoirs, poems, and sections from The Art of the Memoir by Mary Karr. We will practice free-writing exercises (with optional homework) with the goal of writing and revising our own memoir essays. It is an opportunity to share personal experiences with other Eliot members, read different types of memoirs, and put our own memories and experiences down on the page.
Participants will leave with a tangible product of one or more memoir essays that they have produced through the workshop, as well as enriched community with other Eliot members, and a greater understanding and appreciation of the memoir as an art form.
Brooke Taylor-Duckworth has a PhD in English literature, has taught at the collegiate level, and has published her own memoir.
