May 2025 Board Bits
- The Board affirmed six new members: Ashley Jaworski, Nick Jaworski, Caitlin Koenig, Andrew Leighton Koenig, Scott Shepherd, and Marilyn Shepherd. Welcome!
- The Board discussed and reviewed the 2024-25 Annual Meeting and celebrated the great turnout! The meeting’s votes awarded Emerita status to Rev. Barbara Gadon and adopted adding "Universalist" to Eliot's name, thus becoming Eliot Unitarian Universalist Chapel.
- Board Chair Carole Glauser will write a letter of congratulations to Rev. Barbara Gadon to mark her receipt of the Emerita honor.
- The Chair-elect, Jennifer Stauber, gave a preview of the Rolling Roadmap presentation that will be presented on 5/18 to the congregation. A Rolling Roadmap slide deck will be sent out before the presentation so that members can prepare questions. Eliot’s 25-26 Chair Elect, Matthew Hull, will lead the next iteration of the RR committee in the new church year starting in July. Thank you Jennifer, Matthew, and the entire Rolling Roadmap Committee (Rev. Krista Taves, Steve Mennerick, Ann Lemon, Ann Ruger, Jennifer Stauber, and Matthew Hull) for all your hard work launching this new method of strategic planning into practice!
- The 222 Argonne Discernment Team will give a report of their progress to the Board at the June meeting.
- The Board discussed whether or not to continue having a booth at the Kirkwood Greentree Festival in September. It's been difficult to find volunteer coordinators to lead the effort, despite having ample volunteers to set up/take down and work the booth shifts the past two years. They decided to go ahead and reserve a booth by the June 15 deadline with Jennifer Stauber and Carole Glauser agreeing to be the default co-coordinators if no others take the lead. If you are interested in collaborating with the Board to help coordinate the booth at the festival, please send a message to board@eliotchapel.org.
- This month’s Thoughtful Question for the Board came from Board Member David Cox: How can I address injustice and oppression right now? A lively discussion followed. How would you answer the question David posed?
