Passion in Action: The Eliot Leadership Circles

Because you don't need a title to make a difference.
Do you care deeply about a project at Eliot? Are you passionate about a social justice initiative, a community program, or simply making our Chapel a warmer place to be?
Sometimes, the word "Leadership" feels intimidating. It sounds like more meetings, more emails, and having all the answers. At Eliot, we see it differently. Leadership is simply the act of moving a passion forward. Whether you’re a long-time committee chair or someone who is just "curious" about how to get things done, we invite you to join a Leadership Circle.
What is a Leadership Circle?
It’s not a class or a lecture. It’s a confidential "brain trust" of six peers and one facilitator. We meet for three 90-minute sessions this spring to help each other navigate the "stuck" parts of our passion.
The "Coach Approach" (No Experts Required)
We use a specific format designed to take the pressure off:
- The Deep Dive: In each session, two participants share a challenge they are facing (45 minutes each).
- The Power of the Question: Instead of jumping in with "You should do X," the group practices asking powerful, open-ended questions.
- The Outcome: This helps the person sharing find their own best path forward while everyone else practices the art of truly deep listening.
Why Join?
- Solve a Real Problem: Bring a challenge you're actually facing and get the collective wisdom of the group.
- Learn a New Language: Discover how to "coach" rather than "fix" – a skill that works wonders in volunteer work, your career, and even at the dinner table.
- Safe Space: These circles are bound by strict confidentiality. It’s a place to be honest about what’s hard.
We are recruiting for round 2, after a successful pilot. If you have a passion for Eliot’s mission and are ready to grow alongside others, we want you in the circle.
