The Joys and Challenges of Gray Hair

NEW! The Joys and Challenges of Gray Hair

Aging can be both fun and challenging. No one knows the joys and the challenges better than those of us who are aging. Each of the four sessions will start with a brief introduction followed by a discussion around questions that are sent out in advance. There is no reading required except for the questions. The focus is on sharing to help each other learn from each other.

Session I: How does ageism and discrimination against the aging in our society affect you and what have you done about it? Maybe we need a shirt that says: “Gray Hair and Wrinkles are signs of wisdom, not ineptness.” Or maybe, it has no effect on you. If not, why?

Session II: What are the unexpected joys of aging? Maybe you found a new career or love retirement. Or maybe volunteering has been the best thing that happened to you? Maybe you found more freedom to be yourself. Or??

Session III: Putting ageism aside, what challenges do you find in aging that you did not expect? Do others expect more of you or less of you?

Session IV: Socializing as we get older is a known protector against dementia. But people move away, or pass away, or become ill. Does socializing change as we age? How do we find ways to stay connected?

MEETS: February 3, 10, 17, and 24 from 4:00 - 5:00 on Zoom
