Family Campout at Bergfried

family camp at Bergfried

Come see what all the talk is about! Here's a chance to enjoy the great outdoors at Bergfried with Eliot community members.

We will begin congregating Friday afternoon/evening, October 10 for camping and fellowship around the campfire or a short hike, and potluck dinner.

Saturday’s lineup of activities (all optional) include:

  • Field games: sack race, obstacle course, and watermelon seed spitting contest

  • Tour of the USS Aries, a hydroplane docked just across the Gasconade River

  • Guess how old this tree is? A venerable tree, adjacent to the shelter in the main camping meadow, has been there for many years before the area was settled – see if you can guess its age!

  • Search for a Christmas giving tree – to bring to Eliot in December

  • Possibility of canoeing/kayaking on the Gasconade River

  • Hanging out at the shelter

  • Hiking – and building the bonfire

  • An evening of singing and storytelling around the bonfire

On Sunday, most people break camp after an outdoor service.

Come for any day, or plan to stay the night; overnight options include limited cottage space available to members with needs, two rustic bunkhouses with cots, and campsites suitable for tents or car camping.
