December 2025 Board Bits

Thoughtful Question:  Brian asked: What aspect of our Unitarian Universalist identity feels most vital right now, and how is the board helping it flourish? The discussion that followed was a good reminder of the importance of board service.

Property updates:  The board toured meeting rooms 004, 005, and 006, which were recently updated (special thanks to Jan Erdman and Mary Quinn). They are gorgeous and welcoming! We look forward to using them for future BOT Meetings.

Proposals for UUA General Assembly Discussion: The board voted unanimously to support a request from First Parish Brewster to include three proposals related to ministerial review processes on the 2026 UUA General Assembly discussion agenda. The proposals are (1) Ministerial Fellowship Committee (MFC) Policy Review, (2) Fair Compensation During Suspension, Presumption of Innocence, and (3) Clarify Suspension Authority.

Rolling Roadmap progress:  The board checked in on the Rolling Roadmap, noting that the monthly Lead Minister’s report is an excellent source for details about progress towards our goals. We would like to make sure all our members know how to find these reports (and more!) on the membership section of the website.

Open Question Conversations: Matthew and Bob summarized what was heard during our 1st Open Question discussions, noting a consistent theme of desiring more community here at Eliot. We look forward to continuing to dig into our Open Questions and to deciding on our next Rolling Roadmap goal, based on these conversations.

Reminder - Board of Trustees meetings are open to all!  We would love to have you join in our discussions.
