Covenant groups are the lifeblood of this congregation. They are small groups of 6-8 people who meet regularly for community and spiritual growth. This is where many of us make our deepest connections and friendships. Members of covenant groups make them a priority in their lives, so committing and showing up is important. Each group provides at least one act of service to Eliot Chapel and the larger community per year. 

Common Ground Covenant Groups are specially designed for new members (you joined in the last 3 years) or new friends (you have attended at least 6 worship services). They are one of the best ways to explore your spirituality, experience Unitarian Universalism in action, make friends, and serve the community. 

The basis of covenant groups is the covenant. We promise to make our gatherings a priority, to respect and love each other, to listen to each other, and to support each other as we grow. 

Each group has cofacilitators who are most likely newer members of the congregation. Groups meet monthly for nine sessions and explore how the spiritual theme of the month works in our lives. Deep Listening is a central practice in participating in covenant groups. Each person takes a turn in a sacred space to share what is happening in their lives, often in relation to the theme. Soul Matters Sharing Circle (a resource-sharing UU collaborative) is the source for the themes.

Common Ground Covenant Groups will also offer one act of service to the community and one act of service to Eliot Chapel. 

The group can choose whether to continue meeting after the initial nine sessions.

Registration for two Common Ground Covenant Groups is now open. (link). You can sign up at any time of the year. There is a waiting list if none of the times offered work for you. Please check back regularly because current groups may have openings and new groups may have been added.
