New Members to the Board of Trustees

The 2024 Eliot Unitarian Chapel Annual Congregational Meeting will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024. The agenda for the annual meeting will include the approval of new members to the Board of Trustees. The Nominating Committee is pleased to share the new Board nominees as follows:

  • Kathy Brunts – 3 year term,
  • Jennifer Stauber – 3 year term,
  • Matthew Hull – 3 year term, and
  • David Cox – 1 year term.

Kathy Brunts

Kathy has been a member at Eliot for about 30 years. When her children were young, she was a religious education teacher each year. Later, she participated in a covenant group and remains close friends with members of that group. Since COVID began, she has worked with the ministers and a committee regarding our COVID policies. Currently, she is exploring spirituality in Wellspring and is a member of the Welcome Team.

Kathy worked as a physician with Esse Health for 35 years. She was chairperson of the Diabetes Wellness Program and participated in other committees.

Since retirement, Kathy has expanded her volunteer work, including reading with first graders, Ready Readers for pre-K, and Girls On The Run for grades 3 to 5. She also enjoys hiking, cycling, sailing, bird watching and pickleball.

Jennifer Stauber

Jennifer grew up with Eliot Chapel as her one and only home church, starting in the 1970s when her grandparents (founding members Joe and Louise Killebrew) brought her to RE. Some of her fondest childhood memories are Bread Service, the old "stair pit" in Adams Hall, and camping at Bergfried. A lifelong goal has been to one day, when retirement allows, join the feisty women of Women’s Alliance. In 2015, Jennifer moved to Kirkwood, started attending services more regularly, and soon became very active in Eliot’s Immigration Justice Team. Outside of church, Jennifer works at Washington University School of Medicine in Alzheimer’s research. At home, she and her husband, Ramiro, enjoy gardening, salsa dancing, nature hikes, and raising their 3 boys (Gael 11, Maximus 14, and Felix 18) and occasionally ducks and other assorted poultry.

Matthew Hull

While only becoming an official member of Eliot earlier this year, Matthew and his wife Tanya have been attending Eliot for approximately six years, and their son Colin has been attending RE for the past two years or so. Their daughter Daphne is going to head off to college at the Art Institute of Chicago in the fall. Matthew works full-time at Edward Jones Investments, a local Fortune-500 firm, as a Sr. Strategic Sourcing Manager, negotiating contracts and counseling his business owners on how to gain maximal value and avoid maximal risk with their strategic IT and business purchases.  Matthew recently finished a six-year stint as the chair of his local HOA. An ardent music lover, he loves to play guitar and ukulele and is always learning new songs and styles to play and is always on the lookout for people to jam with (hint hint). An avid cook, Matthew enjoys cooking most nights for his family, exploring new recipes and styles, and exposing his kids to different sorts of cuisines.  Matthew enjoys spending time outdoors and camping in the fresh air and is very grateful for the Bergfried property. Matthew and family live in Creve Coeur with their two dogs, Pepper and Bunny, and their cat Sully who thinks he is a dog.

David Cox

David joined Eliot Chapel in 2006 after he and his family moved to the area. They had been longtime Unitarian Universalists prior to joining Eliot Chapel. David sang for many years with several choirs here. He was also elected to the board of trustees in 2015 where he served for more than one term.

David is an attorney in private practice focusing on immigration matters. He is on the Board of Governors at the Bar Association of Metropolitan Saint Louis where he is also the Chair of the Immigration Law Committee. David sings with the St Louis Symphony Chorus and the Bach Society of St Louis. His former spouse and youngest son live in the Metro East and his oldest son lives and works in Chicago.
