Eliot Unitarian Chapel: Youth Registration

2022-2023

Eliot Chapel parents & guardians are asked to complete a registration form each year for youth actively participating in Eliot youth programming and activities. Having up-to-date information enables us to more effectively plan our program offerings, helps us keep you informed about church events and activities throughout the year, and, most importantly, helps keep youth safe while under the supervision of youth group staff and lay leaders.

Please note that in 2022-23, “youth” is defined as individuals in 7th-12th grade, OR the homeschool equivalent.

Financial Expectations

The Religious Education (RE) program depends on the generous financial contributions of Eliot Chapel members and friends through their annual pledges to the church's operating budget. From time to time, a fee may be charged for a specific activity or event.

It is the expectation that parents and guardians of participating children and youth will support the congregation, to the best of their ability, through an annual pledge to Eliot Chapel.

Errors

Mask Expectations (as of July 2022): Eliot children aged two and older, youth, and adult members, friends, staff, and volunteer leaders who are attending or participating in in-person activities are required to wear a mask indoors at all times. These should be surgical masks, KN95 or N95 masks. Cloth masks are not permitted at this time. Surgical masks for adults and children are available at the church. Masks are optional during outdoor activities (as of July 2022). Mask expectations are subject to continual review throughout the year as Covid-related circumstances change. *

Vaccine Expectations (as of July 2022): It is the expectation of Eliot leadership that all individuals who are eligible to receive Covid vaccines will do so prior to attending or participating in in-person activities, including adult members, friends, staff, children, and youth. Boosters are strongly recommended for those eligible. Vaccine expectations are subject to continue review throughout the year as Covid-related circumstances change. *

Are there any details related to your youth’s family situation or living arrangements which would be helpful for us to know and consider (custody arrangements, family situations, extensive travel, youth living alone, foster care, youth in caregiver role, etc.)? Image Use Procedure: The youth program staff and lay leaders often take photos of youth during classes, group gatherings, and other Chapel events to use for congregational purposes, including Eliot Chapel print and electronic publicity and display on church bulletin boards. Youth are not identified by name in electronic publications unless parents/guardians are specifically contacted in advance and provide approval. Youth who do not wish to be photographed by adult leaders for the purposes noted above are encouraged to notify the youth group leader(s) privately, OR parents/guardians are encouraged to reach out and express their wishes. Parents/guardians may request an "Opt Out" form if they do not wish for their youth’s photo to appear in publicity. Forms may be requested by sending an email to scott@eliotchapel.org. *

Youth Communication Procedures: In addition to email sent to parents/guardians, the adult youth group leaders use text messaging, email, and may use limited Social Media (usually Facebook) to communicate directly with youth about Eliot youth group and congregational activities, and other UU-related events for youth. Youth are also given the phone/text number for the youth group leader and encouraged to reach out for support should such a need arise.

Worship Livestream Disclaimer: Eliot Unitarian Chapel livestreams Sunday worship services via YouTube, the Eliot website, and official Eliot Facebook pages. On Sundays when children are present in the sanctuary for worship services, it is POSSIBLE, depending on where they’re sitting, their image will be included on the livestream via these platforms. If you have concerns about your child or youth’s image appearing on the livestream, please contact Scott at scott@eliotchapel.org. *
